The Department of Biotechnology established in the year 2002-03 with an aim to link up Biological Researches with Engineering and technology has been producing number of Biotechnologists and research scholars who work towards the growth of our Nation. The Department is an ISO 9000-2000 certified and NBA-accredited.

Apart from the Department association, Gene Genera, which organizes various programmes like technical symposium, conferences and seminars every year, as a part of students’ centric learning, the various measures and initiatives are being taken to improve the skills of students, that include exposure to guest lectures, industrial training and tours, communication and soft skills, mini Projects, paper presentations in national level paper contests, class room seminars, placement opportunities, academic and career counseling, certificate courses, live projects in industries, exposure to journals and so on.

The department holds a team of well-qualified, experienced and committed faculty members who educate the students in the pursuit of knowledge. Among the various departments of our institution, Biotechnology has a pass percentage of 85-95% in every academic year. Many of our students are placed in various organizations through on- and off-campus recruitment organized by the placement cell. A remarkable number of our students are pursuing their post graduation and research studies in the countries like UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Sweden and France.

The faculty of the department is very much focused on the thrust areas of Research and Development in vivid fields of biotechnology such as Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Fermentation and Bioreactor technology, Genetic Engineering, Molecular biology and Immunotechnology, Chemical Engineering and Microbiology.
